President's Message

Dear Fellow Iqbalians,

Assalam-o-Alaikum and warm greetings to all members of the AIMCAANA family. It is with deep humility and immense gratitude that I step into the role of President for the year 2025. I must admit, this was not a path I actively pursued, but I am honored by the trust and confidence placed in me by my peers and mentors. I am humbled to lead this dynamic organization and contribute to its legacy of service, growth, and excellence.

Reflecting on Our Journey

Having been involved with AIMCAANA in various capacities since 2016, I’ve seen firsthand the love and dedication we share for our alma mater, Allama Iqbal Medical College, and its graduates. Whether it was coordinating lectures between the U.S. and Pakistan, organizing residency webinars, or managing the Iqbalian Loan Program, one thing remains constant: our collective passion to give back to AIMC and pave the way for future generations of Iqbalians.

As we look to 2025, this passion will serve as the foundation for our growth, innovation, and impact. I am fortunate to be surrounded by an exceptional Executive Committee and numerous dedicated volunteers who have already set a high bar for the year ahead. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our immediate past president, Dr. Saqib Sheikh, for his tireless efforts and exemplary leadership.

The Road Ahead: A Vision for 2025

Our mission this year is simple yet ambitious: Better organization for better results. To achieve this, we are focusing on the following priorities:

  1. Strengthening Our Structure:
We will work to organize AIMCAANA more effectively by segmenting our operations geographically across the U.S. and Canada. This will allow us to better address local needs, engage members, and build stronger connections within our alumni network.
  2. Empowering Our Committees:
We aim to energize and expand our committees by inviting more members to actively participate. Whether it’s volunteering time, sharing expertise, or supporting ongoing projects, there’s a place for everyone to contribute. This is your opportunity to showcase your talents and make a meaningful impact.
  3. Supporting Residency Candidates:
As always, one of our core objectives is to assist young Iqbalians in securing residency positions. Through residency webinars, mentorship programs, and guidance initiatives, we will continue to equip them with the tools and resources needed to succeed.
  4. Expanding Membership:
We will actively increase AIMCAANA’s membership by reaching out to our alumni and encouraging them to join us. The strength of our organization lies in our collective effort, and we invite every Iqbalian to be part of this journey.
  5. Project Development and Evaluation:
To ensure sustainable growth, we will establish a standardized approach to screen and evaluate new projects and respond to assistance requests from AIMC or Jinnah Hospital. This will allow us to allocate resources effectively and maximize our impact.
  6. Ongoing Initiatives:
    • Digital AIMC Project: To bring digital transformation to our alma mater.
    • ACLS/BLS Training Programs: To equip medical students with essential life-saving skills.
    • Construction and Infrastructure: Enhancing hostel facilities and other critical infrastructure at AIMC.
    • Educational Programs: Promoting AI in healthcare to prepare our alumni and students for the future of medicine.
  7. Exciting Events in 2025:
Get ready for an unforgettable year of camaraderie and celebration! Highlights include but not limited to:
    • Spring Meeting in Oklahoma April 3 – 6
    • Summer Meeting in Dallas July 9 – 13
    • The Grand APPNA Meeting in Lahore Dec 4 – 7

And we plan to make our GRAND ONLINE EVENT an even bigger success this year!

These events will be more than just gatherings—they will be opportunities to reconnect, collaborate, and celebrate the extraordinary bond we share as Iqbalians.

A Call to Action

I invite each one of you to step forward and contribute in whatever way you can. Whether it’s mentoring young graduates, participating in committees, or simply attending our events, your involvement will make a difference. Let’s harness the power of our collective expertise, passion, and generosity to make 2025 a landmark year for AIMCAANA.

To my incredible team and all our members: Thank you for your dedication, energy, and belief in our shared mission. Together, we will continue to honor the motto: “Iqbalian Once, Iqbalian Forever.”

Warm regards,
Dr. Umer Khan
